Believed to be the oldest Siamese Buddhist
wat or temple in Malaysia, Wat Chindaram
or better known as Wat Thanara in Kampung
Senara is thought to be about 200 years old
i.e. from the early 19th century although the
records are not precise as the local Siamese
community had to be moved, for example
during the Communist insurgency, and
the temple was abandoned for many years
before being used again in recent decades
