Malay legend has it that princess Mambang Sari and her husband Mat Teja lost their son, so they came to the lake to mourn, where she blessed the waters so that couples having difficulty conceiving should try swimming here. The lovely lake is cloistered on an island of the same name, Dayang Bunting in Malay, south of Langkawi proper and easily reached by boat or even jetski. Besides swimming, there’s kayaking and boating, a foot-dipping fish pond and a lakeside jungle boardwalk down to the ‘Miracle Border’, a thin strip of rocky land that miraculously separates seawater from the freshwater lake.
