Literally ‘midwife island’, Pulau Bidan is one of a string of pearl-like isles off Yan’s coast, part of the area’s unique geosites with prehistoric limestone mahang formation that is 480 million years old. Crinoid and possible nautiloid fossils have been unearthed here, making the island high in scientific value. Culturally, an ancient grave known as Keramat Abdul Rashid existed here, which was exhumed and moved to Yan Mosque for safeguarding in 2004. The facilities offered here also make Bidan island the one for overnight stays.
