King, who used to suck human blood and

records. It now has Kedah’s biggest city,
Sungai Petani, that almost rivals Penang’s

Situated in the northeast of Kedah bordering
Thailand further north and blessed with
much undisturbed nature, the district aptly
got its name from a botanical reference of
‘field’ or in Malay “padang” of ‘terap’ edible

Bandar Baharu
The southern-most district of Kedah state
and the first to be reached when arriving by
the North-South Highway, Bandar Baharu
has the smallest population among Kedah’s
districts yet it has an urban-sounding name (3MB)
